In this article – we share a super-simple yet incredibly tasty green smoothie (plus ingredient substitutions to match whatever’s available in your kitchen right now).

Don’t be put off by the vivid green colour – the brighter the better in our book! It’s a really tasty way of dosing up on your leafy greens plus loads of awesome nutrients.

Pineapple & Spinach Smoothie Benefits

Pineapple comes into season during March, so spring is the perfect time to throw one in your shopping basket. Its juicy sweetness and ridiculous levels of vitamin C (120% daily requirement) make pineapple an immune-boosting powerhouse.

The benefits of leafy green smoothies like this one are pretty well documented. A 50g serving of spinach provides 3x your daily vitamin K needs, 98% of your vitamin A, and 23% of your vitamin C.

It’s also a good source of folate (also known as folic acid) providing 49% of your RDA, which is essential for DNA. It also releases serotonin which acts like a mild but natural antidepressant. This makes spinach a healthy addition to any smoothie.

Adding a banana to your smoothie recipe increases energy density, providing fuel for everyday activities. It’s also rich in fibre, vitamin C, and potassium.

Taken together, the benefits of this smoothie include increased fibre along with vitamins A, C, and K. Combining these ingredients makes for a quick, easy, and highly nutritious beverage. If you’re new to green smoothies (or unconvinced by the idea of drinking salad leaves!) then this recipe is guaranteed to win you over.
